Economy class had long been a torture for many travelers, especially when seated next to a stranger, where the narrow armrests shared between adjacent seats are often a major source of frustration and dispute. Unfortunately, the economics of economy class forbid airlines to spare much extra space.  Staggering the seats might be a good solution that increases comfort while maintaining seat count.
